Why Detox?

There are many reasons a person may wish to undergo a detox programme but fundamentally it seems that it’s a desire to simply feel better whether that’s for a special occasion coming up or just because we’re sick of feeling below par!

Environmental factors, stress and demanding lifestyles can serve to make us feel rundown and that can include a multitude of symptoms like headaches, digestive problems, poor sleep, fatigue, general aches and pains.

In order for our bodies to be able to do what they are supposed to do effectively then our organs and systems need to be in the best possible working order. In order to eliminate the bombardment of 21st century environmental toxins and effects of poor lifestyle choices then we may need to consider a body detox as a ‘one-off’ or as a more regular programme once or twice a month or even weekly.

Restoring balance to the body by detox allows our organs and systems to function more effectively. After our last meal, our bodies can take up to eight hours to digest and absorb and around another four to detoxify or remove all waste and toxins and this is under ideal conditions! Many of us eat large meals or snack frequently and often unhealthy foods and so do not allow our digestive systems time to detoxify efficiently.

Detox programmes can allow us to restore our systems to enable them to function to the best of their ability. There are many detox programmes but most involve a period of fasting followed by a regime of strict diet incorporating only fruits, vegetables, pure juices or water. Supplements like Detoxvita may help to support you before, during and after your complete body detox to cleanse and support your liver and detoxifying system with a combination of herbal extracts and vitamins.

Remember to consult your doctor if you have any health concerns or underlying conditions prior to embarking on a detox programme.
